Best Jacket Ever!

In case you haven't noticed, the guys who work at Jack and Adams are pretty much cycling hardmen, reminiscent in many ways of Merckx, Hinault, Anquetil and Voigt. Essentially, the best parts of all those legends wrapped up in a big, Belgian taco and wearing an I Love Triathlon T-shirt.

Needless to say, we aren't ever going to cancel our Tuesday rides due to weather. We'll just keep adding layers until it is impossible to get a gel from our jersey pockets. By now, I've got enough clothing for the cold. The only days I really fear are the cold, rainy ones. The kind of days that you just find some cave inside of yourself and hideout until you are home. Gloves soaked, feet frozen, no need to drink from your bottles because the rider in front of you is sending a steady stream of water into your mouth. The kind of days like today.

Enter the Louis Garneau Climate Grid. Three of us sported the jacket for the first time this morning, and I must say that I've never had such a pleasant, miserable ride. The Climate Grid is a breathable, water resistant rain cape that is exceptionally lightweight, easily packable and translucent. It's an essential 3 season piece for riding in Texas. After four hours of drizzle and moderate rain our arms and torso's were warm and dry. I wasn't drowning in my own sweat and everyone could see us flying our J&A jerseys beneath the jacket.

Ultimately, what I'm saying is that a rain cape for cycling is one of those things that you stumble upon and think, "Why haven't I had this for years?" If you despise riding the trainer as much as I do it's a fantastic investment at $79.99. I'm relatively spoiled, working at the shop and trying out all of the latest and greatest stuff, but this little jacket has taken me completely by surprise. Best jacket ever...

Shop ride Sundays - Whats going on?

A few updates for December on the shop ride. We had yet another great turnout last week for the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse ride, and so we be holding the shop Christmas Ride up there on 12/19. They'll be free brunch for those with the best bike, helmet and clothing decorations!

For this Sunday, if the weather holds, it will be a glorious sunny, if not cool morning for a ride, predictions are on 48f - We'll have the shop no-drop ride, that will go South for the usual route, 20-miles total.

We'd like to offer a longer ride this week for everyone else, and we may or may not split into intermediate lead by Tammy and Tempo Multisport, and Advanced with Zac. What we thinking would be good would be to take an easy ride out South East once clear of town, do one, two or three paceline groups, based on who shows up. We'll re-group after about 6-miles at a gas station, and then set off back to the shop together, it will give about a 50-mile ride.

So thats the proposal, show up and we will see what folks want to do. There should be enough ride escorts to split into different groups either way.

Shoe Run Run

Are you having trouble knowing when to replace your running shoes?

The Apple Store now offers an app to help you track your mileage for multiple pairs of shoes!

Check out the app features/specs:

For each pair of shoes you're tracking, you can pick a shoe brand & model, photo, purchase date, and set mileage warnings for when it's time to replace that pair.

Shoe Run Run features:
- Track multiple pairs of shoes at once, in either miles or kilometers.
- Quick & easy run entry, as few as 3 taps to add a run!
- Select from a dozen built-in photos to identify your shoes, or take a picture with your camera to tag the shoes.
- Each pair can have a name, purchase date, and brand/model assigned.
- Choose from 19 built in shoe brands and over 200 models, or add custom brand/model names.
- See histories of all the runs for each pair of shoes, and if you made a mistake, easily delete individual runs.
- Customize the mileage warnings for each pair of shoes, so you'll know exactly when to replace them, whether you get 250 or 500 miles out of a pair.
- Retire shoes that have been replaced without deleting them- they can still show up in the list if you want to go back and look at them again (or even un-retire them).
- Automatically sort your shoes by purchase date, total miles, brand, name, or last run date.

Shoe Run Run works on all iPhones and iPod Touches, and is only 99 cents from the App Store here.
