Jack & Adam's / Steiner Steakhouse Sunday Brunch Rides 2012

Jack & Adams Bicycles and Steiner Steakhouse have teamed up once a month to bring you a beautiful bike ride of 15 miles and 34 miles through the hills of west Austin. The 2012 ride schedule is posted below. This ride will take the place of our normal shop ride on this day. We break into three groups, Advanced, Intermediate, and the No Drop entry level ride. We will roll out of the Steiner Steakhouse parking lot at 8:30 a.m. for two distances of 15 miles and 34 miles. You are welcome to add on if you like. At the end of each ride there are 2 choices of long climbs to go down and back on. Jack Murray of Jack & Adams and Sid Steiner of Steiner Steakhouse will be on hand as 2 of the many shop ride leaders. Post ride, half price brunch will be available courtesy of Steiner Steakhouse. All items on the brunch menu sit between $7 an $15 bucks. So for half off you can eat for $3.50 to $7.50 per person. There will also be live music on the patio that overlooks Lake Travis. Shop ride Sundays: Steiner Ride Special

After the last triathlon of the High Five and shop run and sponsored Texas Tri series, it's time to get started on winter base and maintenance. What better way to start than the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse Ride?

We are back at the Steakhouse this Sunday. Ride starts as always at 8:30 a.m. prompt. Although I expect a smaller group this week as it's the Run for the Water 10-miler, the Steakhouse rides are always popular and the parking lot fills quickly. Please arrive in time, we won't wait.

We will have 3 groups start, advanced, intermediate and of course, Jacks "famous" no-drop. The advance and intermediate take the same out and back route, so it's a good chance to try to hang with the faster group. For the intermediate, which is often the biggest group, I'll try to keep the group together until we get onto Volente, after that since it's pretty much a straight out and back on wide shoulders, it's up to you to decide how fast you can go and where.

No-drop is as always, no-drop. James and Hugo will be along to sheperd. Elizabeth will either be with them, or helping me on the intermediate. After the ride, the great folks at the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse will be providing half price brunch. See y'all Sunday, winters coming time to build a base! ++Mark.

As per the schedule, and notwithstanding the recent fires up at Steiner, this is to confirm that this weeks shop ride on Sunday will return to the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse on Sunday, ride strats promptly at 8:30 a.m. We will have the normal ride groups, advanced, Intermediate which will split in two, and no-drop.

This ride, more than any other on our schedule is a great day to try a faster group. If you start with the advanced group and can't keep up, you can fall back and wait for the intermediate, if you start with the intermediate and can't keep up, if you drop back before FM620 can join the no-drop ride, or if after that, you can simply turn around and make your way back, and you'll have the advanced and intermediates and no doubt others to follow along. If you do decide to try a faster group, please ride at the back, it is safer for everyone until you can keep up comfortably.

After the ride, Sid Steiner and the Steakhouse will once again be hosting us for half-price brunch. As always, please be patient with the staff, having a 100+ lycra clad athletes drop-in presents unique challenges and don't forget to thank them appropriately. See y'all Sunday! ++Mark.

p.s. I won't be leading an Austin 70.3 ride this Saturday as I'm racing in the San Marcos Roundtable triathlon. If you are interested in riding the course, be at the Walter E Long Park entrance at 7 a.m. ready for wheels down as soon as it is safe/light.

This Sunday see's the shop ride return to the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, a ride thats become hugely popular with both regular shop riders and a whole new Steiner Ranch ride crew. The ride will start promptly at 8:30 am from the Steakhouse parking lot, and will be followed by the customary, excellent, and great value Steakhouse half price brunch. One request, please remember that the staff, our servers at the Steakhouse, are doing it for love AND tips. They start work early to come serve us. Please remember to share the love not by just telling them how great tight spandex is ;-) that way we might get a few more out to help!

No Drop! As always we'll have "Jack's famous" no-drop ride, lead by James and Hugo this week, a 20-mile out and back along RR620 and through a neighborhood with a few short hills.

Advanced/Intermediate: There will be intermediate and advanced rides with myself(Mark), Jack and Drew from the shop, and Sid Steiner on duty as ride leaders. The Advanced and Intermediate routes are 30-ish miles, and its a good chance to challenge yourself and start towards the back of the Advanced and try to hang-on. If you can't, just spin and the Intermediate group(s) will come along afterwards and pick-you-up!

Swim time: As promised last time we were at the Steiner Ranch, we are going to start a pre-ride open water swim. We'll meet at 6:15 a.m. at the Low Water Crossing below Mansfield Dam. The water there is cold, mostly colder than Barton Springs, and the current can be strong, so you can swim towards the dam and go nowhere. The TCEQ no longer monitor the Low Water Crossing, but you can find some details and pictures here. Wetsuits required, swim at your own risk. Shop ride Sundays: It's a good day to ride

This weekend we'll be riding as normal, no-drop and the advanced and intermediate. No definitive plans except the no-drop will go South to the high school, I'll be leading that ride again and will happily answer general cycling or triathlon questions while do the ride. Wonder what races to do next year, want to do your first race?? Come along, ride and ask...

As always, the no-drop is 20-miles round-trip, we aim to get finished in around 1-hour 45-mins, sometimes less, often more. The weather will start out high 50's and warm up from there, so wear thin, lightweight layers that you can remove and fold.

SUNDAY 19th it's the Steiner Steak House Christmas Ride.
