Blue Seventy Element Goggle

The Blue Seventy Element Goggle is back at Jack & Adam's! Blue Seventy came out with more colors ranging from blue frame/yellow lenses to pink frame/mirror lenses and everything in between.

For those Aquasphere goggle lovers, the Kayenne goggle, the Kaiman goggle, and the Seal mask are fully stocked in clear lens and smoke lens options.

Another great item now in stock at Jack & Adam's is the TYR Sayonara Swim Skin. We now have the Sayonara stocked in both the full leg and short leg version men's & women's. The Sayonara Swim Skin is the first swim skin available with the patented Yamamoto Biorubber Mark III fabric; a lightweight super composite skin (SCS) made of Titanium alloy for thermoregulation and a hydrogen-bonded surface to reduce drag and maximize water repellency. In other words: the Sayonara will make you buoyant and fast while still keeping you in compliance with USAT regulations!

Future of Triathlon

This past weekend, Jack & Adam's Bicycles had volunteer mechanics at both the Hill Country Kid's Tri and at the Howdy Du. While we worked on bikes, participants prepped for their race. We couldn't help but notice one of the young triathletes at the kid's tri decked out in J&A attire. Not to miss the photo op, Jack took a break from his mechanic duties for this picture with Landon:

Landon's mom, Ashley, also sent in some "action shots" of Landon flying the J&A colors:

Warming up

Jumping in

Riding off
Thanks, Landon, for choosing to wear the J&A jersey!

And to all the adult triathletes - if you've never been to a kid's tri, go volunteer for one. They're a lot of fun to watch.

Working a Race

As you probably know, it takes many volunteers to make a triathlon run smoothly. This past Sunday was no exception; there were plenty of great people on hand at the Couples Tri at Decker Lake in Austin. Here are a few pictures of what volunteers do to make a race happen and what they do to keep participants cool and happy.

Keeping runners cool with water guns.
Cleaning up the race site.
Taking volunteers to their areas.
Prepping drinks at the Aid Station
Breaking down transition area. (pretty much the worst job at a tri.)
Deflating Swim Buoys
Hauling Ice
What's left? - filthy volunteers!

Click here for a few more "behind the scenes" photos from the Couples Tri.

El Diablo

If you're a follower of the Tour de France, then you're familiar with El Diablo. If not, then basically he's a guy who haunts the Tour & riders in his devil costume. He's pretty much a celebrity of the Tour and spectators scramble to get a picture with him. Here local triathlete Billy Harllee got the photo op in this year's Tour. Billy is even wearing his J&A technical tee! Thanks, Billy, for flying the colors & sending in this great photo!

Maybe we'll spot El Diablo and Billy again at the J&A Tour Watching Party on July 25th!

Featured Product of the Week: The Chain Condom

The product of the week is the Chain Condom. Yes I know, funny name right? The Chain Condom does a great job protecting your drive train from residue, bugs, and stuff that builds up while traveling with your bike attached to your car or while storing it inside your car. The makers of the Chain Condom placed an emphasis on the ease of use, car interior protection, and of course bicycle drive train protection so please do not be shied away by the name. Stop by the shop and ask to see the Chain Condom in action...we have it on display on one of our great GURU road bikes.

Jack & Adam's has recently received some larger shipments of products so chances are if you are looking for something we probably have it. Here is a list of a few items now in stock:

GU Roctane Blueberry-Pomegranate & Vanilla Orange
GU Electro Brew Single Serving Packets Raspberry also available in the canister
GU Electro Brew Single Serving Packets Blue/Pom
GU Recovery Brew canister in Strawberry
Powergel Blasts Cola flavor
The Speedfill Hydration System
Arundel Bottle Cages available in Carbon models and the "Cheap Insurance" model (read plastic bottle that will not launch!)
Pearl Izumi Elite Tri shorts
Bonk Breaker Bars
Clif MOJO Bar in PB&J

This weekend is the Couples Triathlon, a J&A official event! I will be out there racing with my sister. It is her first race since Ironkids (I still see her as a kiddo anyways) so it should be exciting to see how it goes. Please say hi or give us the thumbs up!

Why: "One Stage, One Winner, One Big Party"

Get your cycling mates together to share a night in celebrating the deciding stage 20 of the Tour De France! Free food and Beer, courtesy of Twin Liquors, will be provided. Come out to Jack and Adam's Bicycles on July 25th where News 8's Ricky Doyle and Veronica Castelo will give away prizes like an 80GB Video iPod, Toshiba portable DVD player and more. There will also be many more prizes including stuff from Team Slipstream / Garmin / Felt.

Featured Event: Howdy Du

After you're done with the Couples Tri this weekend, be sure to check out the Howdy Du for the following weekend. The 3 mile run, 17 mile bike, 3 mile run takes place on Sunday, July 19th at Berry Springs Park near Georgetown. If you don't like to swim, then a duathlon is a great option for you.

This USAT sanctioned event follows up with great food from Galaxy Cafe and some ice cold drinks. Yes - ICE COLD & that's important when the temps soar. It is Texas after all, so it's gonna be hot. But with the early morning start of 7:15 AM, it shouldn't be too unbearable.

Packet pickup will be at Jack & Adam's. We'll also be out there on race day with mechanic support. Come over & say "Howdy!" (a regular "Hi" will work too.)

Following the Texas 4000

The Texas 4000 Cyclists are currently on their way from Austin, TX to Anchorage, Alaska. It's the world's longest annual charity ride and these young people have been making it happen for the past four years.

Some of the riders have been keeping journal entries, which you can check out HERE. They even sent us a picture in their Jack & Adam's Bicycles t-shirts from Area 51. We don't think they noticed what was hovering around behind them.
